Scientists Develop Revolutionary Ocean Cleanup Technology That Removes 90% of Microplastics

A groundbreaking development in environmental technology is set to transform our fight against ocean pollution. Scientists at the Marine Research Institute have unveiled a new filtration system capable of removing up to 90% of microplastics from seawater.

The technology, which took five years to develop, uses a combination of magnetic nanoparticles and biodegradable filters to capture even the smallest plastic particles. Unlike previous methods, this system can process large volumes of water without harming marine life.

"This is a game-changer for ocean conservation," said Dr. Sarah Chen, lead researcher on the project. "We can now deploy these systems at scale, protecting vulnerable marine ecosystems and the communities that depend on them."

The first pilot programs will launch in three coastal cities next month, with plans for global expansion by 2027.
